Joy Bonhurst
PGA/LPGA Instructor

Joy graduated from Methodist College in 1989 with a
BS in Business Administration with a concentration in
Professional Golf Management. She was a member of the
women’s golf team - the Division III National Champions
each of her 4 years at Methodist. Joy also was nominated
to the All-American (First Team) each year. In 2005, Joy
was inducted into the Methodist College Athletic Hall of
Fame.
Joy joined Chevy Chase Club in 1991 as an assistant
professional and was promoted to First Assistant in 1994
and Director of Instruction in 1999. At Chevy Chase
Club, she developed a comprehensive instructional
program for both children and adults. Joy also is a
certified Golf Fitness Instructor as well as a Certified
Club Fitter.
Joy has been recognized by the LPGA Northeast Section as
Teacher of the Year in 2009 and in 2004 and by the “Golf for Women
Magazine” as a Top 50 Golf Instructor in 2000 and 2005.
She has published golf tip articles in various
publications as well as filming several “infomercials”
for Comcast and the Middle Atlantic PGA. In 2007, Joy
participated in the PGA President’s Council.
In the “Golf Digest Presents Best Teachers in Your
State as Ranked by their Peers, Joy was ranked in the
Top 10 in the state of Maryland in 2007-2008 and again
in 2009. In addition, Joy
has served as the LPGA Northeast Section Education
Coordinator since 2005.
Joy is the 2008 Middle Atlantic PGA Women’s Section
Champion and the 2008 and 2009 Middle Atlantic PGA Women’s Player
of the Year. In 2008, Joy shot her career low score of
64 at Chevy Chase Club.
